DONCASTER ST LEGER 1805

The 30th winner of the St Leger, held on Tuesday 24th September 1805 over the 2 miles of Town Moor, was Staveley, a bay colt by Shuttle out of a dam by Drone, owned by Mr Harry Mellish. A field of 10 runners contested the race, although there were 27 subscriptions of 25 guineas each, which was worth 675 Guineas. (Equivalent to £64,900 in 2017)
